The culmination of several months of hard work has come together in the form of The Place and Memory Book and the accompanying exhibition. The book brings together various strands from the exhibition at Trinity Church, a psychogeographical exploration of Leeds in text, poetry, photos and sculpture. I couldn't put it better than the accompanying blurb.
When is a book not a book? Take eight artists, leave them in a field, a street, a wood, hospital, graveyard, or an abandoned industrial folly. Leave them to explore…
We are delighted to announce that the Place & Memory book is now available from Gordian Projects. The culmination of a year’s exploration and examination of the city of Leeds, the book features images and texts by artists Amanda Burton, Donna Coleman, Sarah Deakin, Charys Ellmer, Sandy Holden, Lorna Johnstone,Morticia and Nigel Stone, and has been designed and edited by project mentors Judit Bodor, Emma Bolland and Tom Rodgers. A handsome 64-page paperback, designed to reflect the spirit of collaboration and discovery that developed during the artists’ journey, Place & Memory highlights the poetry and beauty to be found in the overlooked corners of the city.
It is available to buy here.
